Hi everyone,

Ophelia here with another Artist Gang Tuesday.

Today, I am playing in my journal and keeping things very sweet and simple with the star of the show being the Smiles stencil....

This stencil was the perfect reminder for me today....

So with journal in hand, lets play....

I started with gluing down basic ephemera (I sell these packs in my Etsy shop) here

Using some matte medium to adhere the random bits of paper, and covering the entire page with a thin layer of gesso.

I then used my Daniel Smith "mystery" palette...its a mystery because its such a mess, and I have no idea what colors I have in the palette.

Its such a mess, but I love this palette!!!

I carried on by adding acrylic paints....any colors, but I went with my red/yellow combo favorites....

I added a bit of spray through a number stencil, to add some simple texture...

I usually like to add bits of collage...just for a variety of color....

I used black acrylic paint and a makeup sponge for the stencil....I absolutely love this stencil!!!!

I wee bit of journaling with black acrylic ink to remind me how important it is to SMILE more, and thats it!!

I truly hope you all enjoyed this video...

Until next time,

Ophelia is a mixed media artist living in Creedmoor, NC.  She is married with two children.  Her son Stephen, is a freshman at Western New England University in Springfield, Mass, and her daughter Madison keeps everyone busy with a flurry of activities.  Ophelia truly finds refuge and solace in her studio every single morning way before the day gets busy, she is there, simply playing in paint.

After teaching middle school history for 15 years, she began her dream job as a high school visual arts teacher in August of 2017.

She is the demo artist for her local Jerrysartarama in Raleigh where she is fortunate enough to be able to share her passion and inspires others to play.

Ophelia absolutely adores playing in her journals or creating abstract paintings with lots of color and loads of marks.  Her work is displayed at Ollies downtown Wake Forest and 311 Studios and Gallery downtown Raleigh, NC.
